People tend to adjust their behaviour in a group. That doesn’t mean that we can’t think for ourselves. We can, but we really care a lot about what other people think of us.
So we behave ourselves. We’re not very aware of this, but we all have this ‘social desirability bias’: “the tendency to answer questions in a manner that will be viewed favorably by others.”
UX only works if it’s a social desirability in your company. That’s why it is a political job. It’s not just about having the knowledge or the data about the users. It’s not just about the design solution. It’s also about creating the right environment for the company itself.
