Do you have your own gloomy song? I have. When I’m a bit melancholic, Townes van Zandt’s ‘Rake’ pops up in my head.
Mood stirs memories and there’s a bias for that. Mood-congruent bias means: “The improved recall of information congruent with one’s current mood.”
But moods are complex. I’m still figuring out what mood I’m in when ’the final countdown’ blasts through my head. And of course, it also works the other way around. Some information cannot be recalled when you’re nót in the mood.
Good UX is hard to notice. It should be, because people don’t use your site to have a ‘great user experience’ but because they want to do achieve their own goals. But bad UX is véry memorable. It will put your customer in a bad mood and they will remember you for it. So try to keep them happy: usability is the key.
